What is "Montessori"?
No way we can answer this question with a single blog post - the topic is so very deep and broad! But if we have to, this is how we would put it into words:
Montessori is an educational philosophy centered around the Child. It acknowledges the Child’s natural desire to learn. The role of parent and/or teacher in Montessori is to observe the Child and to encourage Her independent learning by preparing the environment that is welcoming, built with Child’s interests in mind, appropriate for the Child’s current developmental stage and challenging enough at the same time.
What does this mean in practice? How do you incorporate Montessori principles in your Child’s every day life? How exactly do you prepare an environment and what makes a toy “Montessori”? We are going to cover all these topics and a lot more in our future posts!
